guest speaker

i really enjoyed the guest speaker. perhaps it was largely due to my intense interest in the political process or that she was so well spoken and made a real effort to relate her research to the classes in attendance. i did ask her in all of her years of research, which election was the most exciting and interesting. she said this one was since there was so much use of technology and how the internet truely connected people. i found her suggestion of how important the moderator was interesting especially given this years election and choice of a woman writing a book on obama was selected to moderate one of the debates. given more time to ask questions i would have asked if she thought that played any kind of role in this election. i'd be very interested in looking at her book and learning more on her research.

so i'm not entirely sure what all i am to be blogging about. i don't really write unless i have to. i can say that right now i feel like i have 15 too many irons in the fire between cmc and sgc classes. lots of projects and i'm finding it difficult to remember all of them.. which site to post what and when. i'm also struggling on the site review project. it is hard to break rules on a dating site. ok enough for now.. working on more small group stuff now..

My Personal Computer Life..

Many many years ago, I was introduced to the beauty of the internet. When I was back at home and even my first year of college I would spend hours on the computer. I would play mindless flash games and devoted hours to "The Sims" and "Zoo Tycoon". Then my laptop crashed, and hard. Instead of replacing it, I adapted to a life beyond the computer screen. I do not spend much time on an actual computer anymore. Outside of class, I don't spend more than an hour a week on the computer. When I am online, I check my emails (school and one personal account) my facebook and myspace, in that order, taking a total of 15minutes. I do however check my emails through my cell phone regularly, very regularly. I spend much more time on the internet through my phone. I google for movie times and directions, i update my facebook and myspace, and check my sports scores and check my student email all from class, work, the car, where ever i might be. I find that my phone is more convenient and reliable. The requirements for this class will have me spend more time than i am used to online so I am curious to see how well this will work for me.
